Superfans and desktop features come to Periscope
Periscope has unveiled a couple of new features. First up, we have viewer ranking – what Periscope is calling “Superfans”. Now, I really HATE the word “fans” – that’s not how I view my community – but, that aside, it’s useful to see who your most consistent viewers are. But if you’re paying attention to your audience while you’re live, the names probably won’t be a surprise.
For people who watch Periscope from their computer, you can now send comments and “hearts” from the desktop (previously that was just mobile functionality). I’m really glad to see this arrive – it opens the full Periscope experience to a lot more people!
Instagram live video confirmed
We reported a while back that Instagram was testing live video in a very limited way in Russia. Now the company has confirmed that live video is indeed coming our way! They haven’t given any dates or rollouts details, but it’s exciting to know another live platform is on the horizon. We will keep you informed as details are revealed.
We also opened the floor to your questions. People wanted to know details on things like how many people are involved in our show, what should you do when an interview falls through at the last minute, and how to use live video in a webinar-like way to sell products. Check out the video for all those answers and a lot of other cool stuff!
