How to Import and Export Ecamm Live Profiles
Ecamm Live Profiles make it easy to organize your shows and productions. They include your Scenes, Overlays, Sound Effects, and settings like stream size and shape. In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to install and export profiles, move them between different Macs, plus best practices to keep your profiles safe and easily accessible.
Importing Profiles
Importing an Ecamm Live profile is quick and easy. There are a few methods you can use:
- Double-Click: Simply double-click the profile file.
- Drag and Drop: Drag the profile file onto the Ecamm Live app icon in your dock.
- Direct Import: Drag the profile file into the main Ecamm Live window.
Note: If you have multiple versions of Ecamm installed on your Mac (e.g., the regular version and the beta version), double-clicking the profile might launch the wrong version of Ecamm, even if one version is already open.
Exporting Profiles
If you want to back up your profile (which is recommended) or move it to another Mac, use the ‘Export’ option under the ‘Profile’ menu at the top of your screen in Ecamm Live.
Moving Profiles Between Macs
Transferring your Ecamm Live profile to another Mac is straightforward:
- Same WiFi Network: Use AirDrop to quickly send the profile to another Mac on the same network. Learn how to use AirDrop here.
- Different Network: Upload the profile to a cloud service like Google Drive or Dropbox, and then download it on the other Mac.
Note: Never run profiles or assets directly from cloud-based folders. Always download them onto your Mac first. Avoid storing them in the Desktop or Documents folders, as these can sync with iCloud, and the local versions may get deleted to save space.
Profile Organization Tips
To ensure a smooth experience with your Ecamm Live profiles, follow these tips:
- Always Backup: Make regular backups of your profiles to avoid losing your settings. This is crucial if you accidentally delete a profile or if something goes wrong.
- Unique Names: Use the Rename option in Ecamm to give each profile a unique name. This helps prevent confusion, especially when swapping between different profiles.
- Organize Assets: Store your profile and assets in a dedicated folder to keep them easily accessible and safe from being deleted or overwritten. Avoid using the Desktop or Documents folders, as these can sync with iCloud, risking the potential loss of local files.
