Help from unexpected places
He first started out with the goal of “getting the Bronx fit”. He began in a basement, then moved on to a gym, with help from a couple of clients. Right there we see how help can come from unexpected places! The relationships you form with your customers when you are just starting out can help you in ways you never expected at the moments you most need them.
Using humor and engagement to draw attention
One of the innovative ideas he used to pull in gym customers was a microphone and speaker he used to engage people walking by on the street. He used humor and a dash of attitude to grab people’s attention and turn them into customers. In a very diverse Bronx neighborhood, the gym became a community hub.
