I’m always checking out new books to make sure I’m hearing the best business and entrepreneur ideas out there. For this show, I decided to share with you the books that made the biggest impact on me and my business this year! The links below are affiliate links, but I want you to know I’d never ask you to buy anything I don’t think is super-worthwhile.
Michael Hyatt’s Full Focus Planner
Ok, this one isn’t really a book, but it’s awesome and very important for keeping me on track as I move through my business plan. Michael Hyatt’s Full Focus Planner makes sure that every day and every week is spent on the most important stuff you need to do to move forward. And right now you can get it for 15% off with this link.
Essentialism by Greg McKeown
This is all about figuring out what is REALLY important. A lot of it is learning to say no, so you can focus on the things you most need to accomplish.
Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
My big takeaway from Big Magic was the confidence to focus on creativity. I love the way she explains creativity and fear.
Ask by Ryan Levesque
This is all about discovering what your customers want to buy so you’re producing exactly what they want, and asking them for the pathway you should follow. It reminds me of the conversation that happens in LIVE video – it goes well with what we do here.
Living Forward by Michael Hyatt and Daniel Harkavy
Living Forward was a complete eye-opener for me. It helped me to really focus on what I want out of my business and life, and the way to chart a course in that direction.
Profit First by Mike Michalowicz
If you run a business, you know how important profit is. This book lays out a path to the financial stability that will allow your business to continue on and grow. It has a bunch of very specific ideas for increasing your profitability.
The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks
This was recommended to me by Cliff Ravenscraft. He told me what huge impact it had on him, and I had to go out and get it IMMEDIATELY. It’s about finding your zone of genius (as compared to your zone of excellence). Genius is where you can focus on your most unique abilities that lead to success.
Start with Why by Simon Sinek
Simon Sinek wants you to figure out WHY it is that you do what you do. Once you have identified that, you have a much better shot at being truly exceptional in your market.
Find Your Why by Simon Sinek
This is the follow-up to the previous book, that helps you discover what your WHY is.
Building a Story Brand by Donald Miller
I have not heard a single negative thing about this book. It’s about how to talk about your brand, what you do and how you do it.
NEXT ON MY LIST…
LeaderBox is a service that delivers two new books to you every month, along with supporting materials and a plan to help you get the most out of that book.
Deep Work by Cal Newport
This is another one that is all about focusing and staying locked on to the most important stuff to push your business forward.
The Coaching Habit by Michael Bungay Stanier
This one comes to me on a recommendation from Pat Flynn. Pat tells me this isn’t just about coaching, it’s about listening to what people are telling you so you can better give them what they want.
Tell to Win by Peter Guber
Another book on the subject of telling a story to engage your customers.
Lead with a Story by Paul Smith
And another story-themed book! Telling a story is so key, I’m really looking forward to learning how to do that better in 2018.
Which of these books (or from your own list) is the one you want to read next? Let me know your choice in the comments!
