Engagement is key to building your community. The greatest strength of LIVE is its ability to be a CONVERSATION, and that begins with engagement! Regardless of your platform, or the kind of LIVE show you’re doing, you can use a few easy techniques to help you get your community talking.
So, how do you boost your engagement? Here are my top 5 tips:
1. Easy Wins
Give your audience easy wins. Longer term viewers might be comfortable engaging with you during LIVE, but new people probably won’t step up and do that. So give them easy things to do that gets them speaking up. Give them “yes” or “no” questions. Encourage new people to say “new”. Then you can welcome and engage with them, and everyone loves that!
2. Ask Often
Throughout your show, keep engaging. Not just at the beginning or end. Keep asking questions. Keep them engaging all the way through your show.
3. Give Them Incentive
Whether you’re putting their comments up on screen, calling them out by name, or something else, people love to be made a part of the show. You can also offer contests, whether they have prizes or not, to get people excited.
4. Live Video Bots
If you’ve been watching me for a while, you know I love my bots! These are the things that trigger an action for a keyword typed into Facebook comments. Those actions can be as simple as a reminder for upcoming shows, or if you have something like a webinar or product launch coming up, you can use a bot to help people get more information about those.
5. Break It Up
Plan segments for your show. Maybe start off with some initial greeting and engagement, then give your first piece of valuable content, then answer questions, then more content, etc. Mix it up!
Which of these tips is the one you’re going to start implementing? (If you want to do more than one, that’s great too!) Let me know in the comments!
