Thinking about offering an online course? We talked to Sid Bharath from Thinkific about the 3 steps that can get you going delivering your training content to your online audience!
Thinkific provides a framework for sites dedicated to delivering training, and the know-how to deploy them successfully. I can strongly recommend this approach, because, well, we did our online course framework ourselves. And that’s not something I think anyone else should do. It takes a huge amount of time and really distracts from what you SHOULD be doing, which is designing your training and interacting with your students.
Step 1: Get started!
You’ve heard this from us many times. Once you have your idea, JUST DO IT! Don’t wait for everything to be perfect. It never will be, and waiting too long is the first step to never doing it.
Step 2: Validate your idea
When you have a concept of what you want to teach, validate that there is enough interest to merit a course. You might do this through something like a Facebook group, or any community that matches up with your concept. Describe to people what you are considering, and ask them if they’d be interested in taking a course that teaches it.
Step 3: Put yourself out there
This is the marketing step. It’s scary for a lot of people, but it’s very key to the growth of your business. There are a lot of ways to get your courses in front of people: Social media, blogging about your subject, and guesting on other people’s shows are all great ways to get the word out!
