One of the most frequent questions we get is, what are good budget cameras for LIVE streaming? In this show, I’m going to go over my picks for the top three cameras that we use. However – the BEST camera for LIVE streaming is the one you have right now. Getting started, doing that first stream, that’s the most important thing. Don’t wait to have perfect gear, because there’s no such thing. With that said, let’s take a look at the three budget cameras I like best.

Blackmagic Ultra HD Camera
The Blackmagic Ultra HD Camera is one of my favorites because it does 4K at up to 60 frames per second, and it’s an interchangeable lens camera. So we can use different lenses depending on what we want for angle and depth of field. There are mounts all over this camera which gives you extreme flexibility in setting up your shot. SRP on this camera is $1695, but that doesn’t include the lens, so you need to think about what kind of shot you want and get the lens that will give you that.
PTZOptics Box Camera
The PTZOptics Box Camera is what I used as the main camera for this episode. It’s got a great lens and an SDI output. It has no screen, so you have to set it up with a monitor, which isn’t a big deal in a studio setting. It produces 1080p output at 30 frames per second. It runs $799.
PTZOptics 20x Zoom Camera
The PTZOptics 20x Zoom Camera produces a great looking image AND, it gives you remote Pan-Tilt-Zoom control, which makes it an ideal camera if you’re a one-person operation, but still want a variety of shots. You can program different shots and angles, then easily move between them. This one costs $1695.
